Testing
Testing is part of our all-inclusive, year-long, signature rider program called The Rider Certificate Program (RCP). Please see the Rider Certificate Program page for complete information.
Congratulations to all riders who successfully tested in August 2009 and moved up to the next level!
Testing
for advancement in the 2009-2010 Rider Certificate Program will be
held in May and November of 2010 and will mark the culmination to another year’s hard
work on and off horseback! The tests are designed to measure the level of
knowledge and skill gained during the year and are composed of three
parts: a verbal quiz, written test, and practical riding session. All
three parts must be taken. Passing scores are as follows::
|
Riding - 60%
Theory - Written Test 80%
Theory - Verbal Test 80%

Re-tests will be offered for all those in at the Royal Blue level or below. The re-testing criteria are as follows:
- If the practical riding portion is failed, participants who scored above 90% in both the written and verbal theory portion may retake the practical test within one session.
- Up through Royal Blue, participants with a score of 70% or more in the practical riding test can retake the written or verbal theory portion within one session.
- Bronze and up must pass all three portions, no retakes offered.

Test preparation theory courses, specifically designed to help you prepare for the test, are offered at each level to help you do your best! The next test preparation class will be immediately precede each test date.
The Test Preparation classes take about 2-3 days and cover the fundamentals of all of the principles learned at the level for which you are testing. But they are most than just a simple regurgitation of previously learned materials. Like all the other classroom education courses at the Academy, the test preparation classes are taught in the same analytical and thought-provoking style, so that when test day – and real life – comes around, you’ll be able to build on the knowledge you’ve gained thus far to formulate logical answers, even in new and previously un-encountered situations.
