Training Weeks
Unlike a traditional clinic, during which each horse/rider combination may only ride once or twice over the course of a long weekend, the AAES Training Weeks are an intense, information-filled and FUN week of complete equestrian immersion! Riders are limited to a relatively small number
during the week, with each rider participating in a daily private lesson, daily
private seat exercise (lunge) lesson, and a daily theory session for five days straight.
Auditing of the other lessons is included as well. The Training Week is
quite intense, and is especially effective if the rider brings and rides their
horse for the week…however, participants may also use one of our school
masters.
Training Days
The training days work in the same format as the Training Week, except that they are only one day instead of five. Each day includes:
- a private lesson in the morning
- videotaping of a portion of the lesson
- review of the video and theory class over lunch
- an afternoon seat lesson
- auditing of all the other lessons throughout the day.

The Seminar and Workshop training
combo is open to participants of the Instructor Seminar Program, and
bases its programs on experiental learning, actively engaging the
participants in the learning process. Experiental learning challenges
learners to discover their own solutions to problems and then apply
those solutions to their environment. In this "hands-on" learning
process, where participants have the opportunity to learn by "doing",
retention rates reach up to 90%!
Seminars are one to two day classes tailored to address one
specific topic. Their focus is on the topic at hand and how that topic
relates to other important areas of training and riding. Many seminars
feature guest speakers highly respected and active in the idustry.
This is the perfect opportunity to get intensive, specialized study, or
to clear up that one "problem area".
Workshops are training sessions held following seminars,
and are practical, hands-on application periods during which you may
apply the theoretical knowledge you have gained at the seminars. This
is a one to three day program of supervised self-study where you
combine training on your own with a group discussion involving the
instructor and other participants, designed for students to ask
questions and share their experiences on horseback. A collaborative
effort is made by the stdents to help each other through the problems
and questions. Also included is a role-playing session where real-life
riding and teaching situations are mimicked. This opens the floort to
discussions about the realistic hypothetical that the students are
likely to encounter throughout their teaching career.

Clinics are a wonderful tool for you, as an enthusiastic horse owner/trainer, to further your skills on horseback and receive one-on-one direction from our master clinicians. They are typically 2-3 day training sessions in which riders participate as often as they would lik in the form of lessons, at $150.00 per horse, per day. Clinic are held throughout the country, and the host/clinic coordinator schedules lessons and orchestrates the days based on the rider's preferred riding times. Typically, a day filled with 12-15 lessons is followed by an evening theory session in which all riders are encouraged to participate. Spectators not riding in the clinic are also welcome. The theory sessions cover a wide range of topics, suggestions for which are taken from the participants and the audience. This is a perfect opportunity for you to express your interests, ideas, and concerns, as well as to get group discussion and feedback on a particular question you may have.
